Angela Kovács returns as Irene Huss Close
The first series of Irene Huss films, based on the books by Helene Tursten, has enjoyed massive success on DVD and on German TV. Now, Angela Kovács will return as the Gothenburg-based inspector in six new films. Lasse Brandeby and Reuben Sallmander will also once again appear in the team around Irene Huss. Shootings start in October. As previously, Illusion Film and Yellow Bird produce the films, in co-operation with Kanal 5, ARD Degeto, Nordisk Film and Film i Väst.
- I am looking forward to once again play Irene Huss and work with Lasse and Reuben and everyone else. I am very pleased with what we achieved in the first series and I am certain that we will be able to repeat the success, said Angela Kovács.
Hillevi Råberg, producer at Illusion Film, added:
- Irene Huss is popular since she is a modern and strong heroine who the audience can relate to. It is an exciting and unusual lead character to base crime stories upon. It will therefore be very exciting to produce a second film series.
The first film in the new series is based on Helene Tursten’s upcoming novel Den som vakar i mörkret (title not yet translated), which will be published 25 August 2010. The other films are based on the novels A man with a small face and The deceitful web and on original stories by Helene Tursten.
- Den som vakar i mörkret deals with the subject of stalking and the despair of victims of this. These days, when our lives are all over Internet, anyone can get a stalker on one’s throat, said Helene Tursten about her new book.
